ConneXions International offers a variety of classes. Follow the links below for more information about each class, for a detailed schedule and to register for a class.

Our classes seek to offer the you the following benefits:

  • All teachers are experienced conversational partners.
  • Access to cultural events, amusements and American homes.
  • Note: Although many of the teachers are highly educated and professional people,
        not all are certified in ESL/ELL.

English Academy

The English Academy was first offered in Summer 2008. This is a short-term, two week, intensive English skills training conducted by experienced, ESL licensed teachers. It is offered each August.

Conversation Classes

Discussion topics are chosen by students and the teacher. American holidays are included as they come up, with parallels from the students countries. Time is also given for sharing a life experience from the past week including cultural and language questions. Small group activities are often used as well.

Comics, Culture and Conversation

Explores informal spoken English, including slang and common phrases, using daily comic strips published in the newspaper. We try to answer "what does it mean?" and ask, "why is it funny or not funny?" This class may also help you see how American's think and relate to their family and friends.

Learning English through the Bible

Practice reading, listening, and speaking using stories from the Bible.  Discuss universal themes about life's biggest questions.  Intermediate - Advanced

 

TOEFL Preparation Class

In this class, using the Longman Preparation Course for the TOEFL Test text, students study reading, listening, speaking and writing skill materials and take a variety of tests to determine where they need to focus their attention. Some students are not preparing for the TOEFL but attend in order to improve their English language skills.

Advanced ESL

In this class, upper-intermediate to advanced-level students develop both fluency and accuracy in English through the use of a topic-based syllabus, Passages, published by Cambridge University Press. Classes provide maximum opportunities for discussion, promoting the development of linguistic and communication skills.

ESL Level 3

This class for intermediate speakers is based on the Interchange series of books for English learning. Interchange 3 provides topics and activities for speaking and listening, vocabulary building, grammar review, and cross-cultural discussion. Student will be given many opportunities for class interaction and practice in speaking.

ESL Level 2

This class for beginner to intermediate speakers is based on the Interchange series of books for English learning. Interchange 2 provides topics and activities for speaking and listening, vocabulary building, grammar review, and cross-cultural discussion. Student will be given many opportunities for class interaction and practice in speaking.

ESL Level 1

This class for beginner speakers is based on the Interchange series of books for English learning. Interchange 1 provides topics and activities for speaking and listening, vocabulary building, grammar review, and cross-cultural discussion. Student will be given many opportunities for class interaction and practice in speaking.

**Note: For unlimited number of free English classes there is a $25.00 registration fee due on the first day of attendance.
