Why volunteer with CXI?

Volunteer teachers have the opportunity to join students on various trips and outings.

Connexions International exists to compassionately serve the international student community in the Twin Cities with English classes and language help and through cultural activities.

We depend on Christians who are motivated by their commitment to Christ and interest in international friendship and service.

We depend on churches who share our passion for international ministry and outreach.

We depend on God to provide committed helpers and finances.

We depend on one another to encourage and pray for us and our guests.

In what ways can I volunteer with CXI?

There are many ways to be involved at Connexions International, even if teaching isn't your thing.

You could...

  • Become a Conversation Partner on Saturdays

  • Teach an English, Cooking, Fitness, or Scrapbooking Class

  • Be a tour guide around the city to explore Minnesota

  • Drive our guests on days we have outings

  • Host a student or two for Thanksgiving and Easter Dinner

  • Meet incoming students at the airport – usually August

  • Use your computer skills, even from home any hour of day!

  • Help us publicize our activities on campus.

Can I check out Connexions before I commit myself?

Volunteer English Teachers have many opportunities to develop relationships with their students.

Yes! Here are some good places to start:

  • Visit a class or accompany us on at outing.

  • Invite CXI to your church, small group, or Bible study to learn more about the international student community in the Twin Cities.

  • Ask your Bible study or small group to prepare and serve a meal for a Saturday lunch or picnic.

  • Sign-up for our quarterly E-Letter to read experiences shared by students and volunteers. Just email janee@cxiumn.org.

  • Contact our director with questions at: janee@cxiumn.org with a good time to be reached by phone (include your phone number).
